If you want to pass the medical English test – IELTS for doctors, and practise medicine in English speaking countries, this online course is for you.
Before doctors from outside the EU (European Union) are permitted to practice medicine in the UK (United Kingdom), they must pass the world renowned IELTS (International English Language Testing System) examination.
Unlike the IELTS exam for university entrants, your minimum pass, as a doctor wishing to practise medicine in the UK, must be at least the high Band of 7.0 in each of the four areas of the English test.
This is a high level of achievement and it is anticipated that the same requirements will soon be applied to doctors coming from within the EU.
One of the main issues patients and doctors have is difficulties in verbal communication.
This can hinder a doctor from fully understanding the description of symptoms given by a patient. Similarly a patient may not fully understand the questions being asked by a doctor.
